First full day in WV

Yesterday I packed up my life and moved to West Virginia for the summer. Upon my arrival I discovered that our condo only had two real bedrooms, both of which had already been claimed by the boy roommates. The only room left was a room with bunkbeds- also known as the foyer as it is the first room upon entering the condo. Because I don't handle bunk beds well, I decided I would claim the futon in the living room. I have stored all my clothes in the entertainment set- one roommate was nice enough to let me have one of his closets to store my hanging clothes. I am actually very proud of how I've attempted to make this area mine. It is currently very hard to not have a private place to be myself as this area I have claimed is in the living room. The last roommate has said she will arrive around 4 or 5 in the morning. I fear it will be a rude awakening for her when she arrives- hopefully I won't be rude when she wakes me up.

Last night Chad and I went out to find a restaurant for dinner. There was a diner that was about 7 miles away. We drove right past it- when we saw it we unanimously decided that it was too sketchy to try. Eventually we came across a Mexican restaurant (ahhhh!). It was probably about 12 miles from our condo. Beaver is the closest town- it had a Subway, McDonald's, CVS, Walgreens, all that was about 20 miles. But the Walmart is in Beckley which is about a 30 min drive from the condos. There was lots of strip malls- in the little I saw of Beckley and a movie theatre.

Right now really sucks. I'm trying to be optimistic as there is nothing else to be. Tomorrow is the first day of work and I know there will be lots to do to distract me from how disappointed I am in my living condition. There is relief that home is very close should I need it.

So far this promises to be the most interesting summer of my life. Say a little prayer for me!

  1. You are there!! That really is a pity that the boys didn't give up their bedroom for you...eesh. You're a girl, you need the privacy of a room! But there are ways to get around sleeping in an exposed living room. You're doing great, staying optimistic! The more time goes by, the more endearing everything will become.
